On The Open Road
Travelling. Most of us haven’t done much of it this past year and a half, but when you work in video production, anything goes. Although Honey Cut Studios is based in Saskatoon, our work can take us all over the province, the country, and even the world. This is especially true now that a return some level of normalcy seems to be on the horizon.
We’ve already gone to Big River, Asquith, and Petrofka this summer, and have shoots tentatively booked in Emma Lake and Wynyard in the coming weeks, among other things. Lots to see and do just within a couple hours’ drive from Saskatoon!
Travelling for shoots is fun. It can be gruelling, but it’s fun. You get to see places you wouldn’t normally visit, and of course spending hours watching the scenery go by is a great way to spend part of a work day. My personal favorite is the rare occasion when I get to go up north – there’s nothing like driving through the woods in a remote area, especially when they’re snow-covered.
The elements have their challenges, of course – from bugs in the summer, to sketchy road conditions in the winter, to wildlife when it’s dark. But at the end of the day, making it home from a meaningful shoot in a far-off place creates a feeling of adventure like no other and sure beats spending all day sitting at a desk.
So whether it’s just down the street or on the other side of the world, we’ll be around, telling important stories, and we hope to see you there!
